Mark Van Gestel
Safety Director

Mark is the Safety Director for all Topping Out Inc companies and has over 16 years of construction experience. He oversees Health and Safety Programs, develops and implements project specific safety plans and participates in project safety meetings with contractors. He is actively involved in leading the education, training and certification efforts for over 300 employees.

His Safety team oversees new employee orientation programs, pre-employment and random drug screening, hazard awareness programs, Safety Policy/Procedures training and the Safety Incentives program.

Responsibilities:
    In addition to leading and coordinating the Safety program, Mark brings an independent perspective at all levels of the jobsite. He conducts project safety inspections; investigates accidents/incidents, coordinates administration of Workmen's Compensation claims and medical management processes. He communicates safety concerns identified by employees, supervisors and contractors to avoid incidents and prevent recurrences. He conducts daily toolbox talks, weekly job safety meetings, monthly safety meetings and job-site Safety reviews for
    all personnel.

History:

    Mark has extensive knowledge of construction standards and general industry standards. Starting his career in safety with AMOCO Engineering & Construction (a division of AMOCO CORP), Mark was responsible for safety at all E&C construction projects at four different refineries throughout the Midwest. Mark has worked as an EMT and Paramedic on the east coast and managed an ambulance service in North Dakota.

Education:

    Mark graduated from Charles County Community College with a degree in Pollution Abatement Technology
